He previously served as assistant coach to the girls’ team at Riverside Brookfield High School and led programs at Academy Bullets Swim Club and Butterfield Country Club.

“Spencer comes to us with an impressive background and a growing track record of success in Illinois swimming,” Aquatics Program Director Beto Garcia said. “His passion for the sport and commitment to swimmer development aligns perfectly with our values and goals for the future of this program.”

As an All-American varsity swimmer for Lyons Township High School, Walker led his team to two state championships and was a two-time individual champion. He holds school records in three events and the Illinois state record in the men’s 200 backstroke. Walker was named Breakthrough Athlete of the Year by IL Swimming in 2017. A USA Senior National and World Championship Trials qualifier, he went on to swim at the University of Alabama.

Walker hails from a family of swimming coaches, including his mother and uncles. His father, Scott Walker, will join the Fenwick program as an assistant coach alongside his son. Scott coached swimming and water polo at Lyons Township High School for 24 years, winning two state titles and coaching seven state championship swimmers before retiring in 2018.

“[Scott] Walker's accolades are tremendous, and his reputation as an excellent coach and motivator precedes him,” Garcia said. “Together, we all will embark on this journey and achieve new heights as a team.”
